Science shows that screaming “IT’S TOO HOT!” has the power to trick your brain into thinking it’s cooler. The same hormones in your brain that get released at the feeling of being cold are released when you shout at the top of your lungs. Try it out!
- Complain about it
Similarly, complaining about the heat can really make you feel better about your sweaty situation. Whine to your friends about how your shirt is sticking to your back and how you feel so weak. It’s fun to share with others how shitty you feel at any waking moment.
- Asking questions
“Why is it so hot?” “Are you hot?” “Is it hot out here or is it just me?” “Is it always so hot in September?”
All of these work very well.
- Spread out and moan
One of the toughest parts of a heat wave is getting to sleep. If you don’t have air conditioning, try this handy tip! Take off all your clothes and stretch out in bed. Make sure none of your limbs are touching your body in any way. Now let out a low and sustained moan. That’ll do it! See how much better you feel?
- Drink lots
Water is good, but soda is better. The sugar in soda has an important electrolytic quality that fuels your body and expels body heat. Have four or five sodas a day and you’ll be cool as a cucumber.
